My commitment to the people of District 7

§  Support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; bear true faith and allegiance to the same; freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; discharge, well and faithfully, the duties of the office of congressman of the United States of America.

§  Promote and provide for an immigration system that will serve the best interests of the lawful citizens of the United States of America while advancing the longstanding attribute of America being a nation that welcomes all immigrants of good character and conduct who demonstrate an unwavering allegiance to the Constitution of the United States of America, while weeding out those with criminal intentions.

§  Designate illegal substance abuse (particularly illegal substances, such as fentanyl, that are acutely hazardous to individuals, communities, and the nation) as a matter of national concern that needs to be addressed with coordinated efforts by law enforcement and healthcare officials at the federal, state, and local levels of government.

§  Recognize a universal need for access to the best available healthcare for all people within our respective jurisdictions; combine all current federal healthcare programs into a single Medicare for All alternative available to all people within the United States and its territories; any individuals or groups are free to employ other healthcare alternatives with structured tax rebates for those choosing those options.

§  Designate the federal debt as a national security matter and engage in bi-partisan efforts to address waste and fraud, as well as, the need to pay down the national debt as expeditiously and judiciously as possible.

§  Promote and provide for business and employment conditions that recognize the rights of all citizens and residents of our nation to engage in and pursue opportunities that foster individual interests and the common welfare.

§  Promote and provide for freedom of choice, free speech, and freedom of religion while safeguarding life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

§  Provide term limits for every elected federal office and for Supreme Court Justices as follows: preserve the two-term (8-year) limit for the presidency; provide four-term (8-year) limit for members of the House of Representatives; provide two-term (12-year) limit for members of the Senate; provide eighteen-year limit for Supreme Court justices with three appointments per presidential term.

§  Promote and provide for the general welfare of the people by addressing gun violence with firearm safety, training, and competency requirements in order to own and carry firearms, consistent with the Second Amendment stating a well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state; not exclude any individual who meets fundamental, common-sense requirements from owning and carrying firearms.

§  Abolish the Senate filibuster; something that was never in line with the US Constitution in the first place and shouldn’t have to be abolished - Alexander Hamilton declared that such a practice “subject[s] the sense of the greater number to that of the lesser” and invokes “tedious delays; continual negotiation and intrigue; [and] contemptible compromises of the public good”.

§  Promote and preserve the position and standing of the United States of America in the world as a beacon of hope, promoter of freedom, and protector of human rights for all people.
